. the black wire for the clutch goes to 3 places.
1. clutch lever (grounds the wire when pulled)
2. start solenoid
3.ECU (computer)

the start solenoid needs it pulled (grounded) to start. but grounding it causes a "zero map" at the computer...... so what to do?

1.cut it at the computer so the computer can NEVER get a grounded signal. therefore operates in full function always. (unless its actually in neutral)
2.ground the wire to the start...

The clutch in mode is not a limp mode. You can still make serious power at 11,900 rpm with the "tame" ignition map. I ran my 1000 this way for some

Ron,
Do you know if this holds true for the GSXR 600 also?

I am pretty sure that all my cars just have the wires connected to bypass the clutch safety switch, and I don't think it is running in limp mode, after all
it's pretty obvious when you do get the FI codes and it goes limp.

Wrong, a 100 ohm resistor won't work. I think you are confusing this with the anti theft override. I put switches in most wiring harnesses I cut to
simulate the clutch being in when starting. You just flip the switch off after starting. If you don't switch it off, you will remember after the first
straight when your rev limiter hits early. You can also add a relay in the circuit to automatically make the engine think the clutch is pulled in when you hit
the start button but you...

I can't remember the wire color but if you add a 100 ohm resistor to (I think) the orange/white wire and connect it to the brown wire you can bypass the

2001 Gixxer 1000 will hit the limiter at 12,200. That is with a stock ECU, if it is wired correctly. The clutch needs to be pulled in, on the bikes, for
the motor to start. Early versions of cut down harnesses solved this by wiring it so the ECU thinks the clutch is always pulled in. The problem is THEN your
revs are limited to 11,900 RPM.... AND you have a tame ignition map.
On pavement, 12+ at the end of the chute gives you 8 something off the corner. The gixxer does this...
