According to a post on 4m.net it does not look good for I-77.

Tyler County Speedway will run every Saturday night. Maybe someone should try to talk to Wayne McPeek about possibly running at Ohio Valley Speedway. I-77
had a good car count and could possibly take most of those to the Valley. With gas prices what they are some of the guys from Parkersburg would go there
instead of making the long tow to Tyler. If enough interest is shown in running the Valley I would be glad to contact Wayne myself, I have known him for some
time. My two cars will not be out every weekend this year, but if the Valley was open I would run there as well as Tyler. Anyone interested please post or
call 304 422-8430 and ask for Bob. I'll keep a total of cars and let Wayne know and see what he says.

I would be interested in running the Valley. But I could not do it every weekend. The Valley is still around a hour and a half drive for me....

Yes, Mod Lites have a home at Rocky Top Raceway on Friday nights in 2008. We are planning on running the Mod Lites every week at RTR (besides 2 or 3 nights
that we have big Late Model specials).
We are committed to the class and are looking forward to big things. Hopefully our 2008 schedule will include a big special event race for the Mod Lites. We appreciate all the Mod Lite guys who supported us in 2007 and look forward to seeing everybody in the spring! With the high banks, RTR is a great track for the Mod Lites to run on. The track is fast and very racey. Some of the best races we saw all year came with the Mod Lites. Go to www.rockytopraceway.net for all track information. Feel free to contact me anytime! |

We would also like to see Ohio Valley run this class if I-77 doesn't reopen. We just bought a modlite and were planning on running at I-77 but will go to
Rocky Top on fridays some also.

I would say we will be at Rocky Top on Friday's, but it would be nice to be able to run I-77 on Saturday's. I'm sure we will hit Tyler Co. some if
i-77 does not open.

Found this post on a Ohio dirt racing forum [Ohiodtr]
http://www.ohiodtr.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14760 Jackson County Speedway may reopen in 08 under new ownership. We are thinking about running late models, modifieds, bombers 4-cyclinders, and mod lights we are think about running on sat nights and pill drawing for every class that will give all drivers a chance and get us out of there earlier we were this past monday and to look at what needed to be fixed we have got alot of work that will take about 2 mounts to get done if we reopen the track the races will start in april and go through october we looking to open the track for everyone to have fun and to be treated fair and like we would want be treated i have been in racing for 25 years and i know what it is like not to be treated fair so i want everyone to feel to come and have a good time with us. please let me know what you think of this and reply thanks Flyin Brian |

sounds awesome! the track last year was good... it could have been better (the race organization)(having track ready at race time, run classes in random or
rotating order, qualifing ok for latemodels, pain if done for all classes... ) we enjoyed racing w/ aaron and the staff there... it is a very good location and
modlites had 20 -25 cars almost every race... only 1 or 2 races w/ 18 or 19 cars... to me thats a good turn out for the class and shows dedication by the
racers.... so i'd say we're ready to go to jackson if it would open!
on my comments above about the track organization ( we (my family) ran jackson county from 87 to 89 and i realize how hard it is to do those things, but they make a big difference in the attitude of the racers and their families. we are currently running/promoting indoor arenacross w/ motorcycles (2001-current) in jackson, oh.... where we cater to 200 + riders for 7 weekends in the winter for racing (38 classes of bikes and quads) and we personally do the track prep, awards, classes, judging, and organization... it's hard but if you want good races and happy racers it takes lots of organization and preperation... i think jackson county has a ton of potiental and had alot of racers and fans last year... so i'm not putting down aaron and his staff (they were great) i noticed alot of frustrated racers due to the above comments. thanks david |
