anyone know what colors represent which gear sizes from toyota factory. example what would the red color behind the drive shaft be a 4.10

NO THE 8 BOLT COLOR CODE IS DIFFERENT. AND AS A MATTER OF FACT SO ARE THE 2 TRUCK CODES. I DON'T HAVE AN ACCURATE LIST FRO ANY OF THE RATIO'S OTHER
THAN THE 10 BOLTS.

You can use this sure fire method to verify :
Mark one axle flange and the driveshaft flange at 12 o'clock or straight up. Turn the axle flange one full revolution while counting the revolutions of the driveshaft mark carefully . 3-3/4 turns would egual a 3.70 etc. |

I DON'T FIND THAT TO BE A "SURE FIRE" METHOD. 'CAUSE IT VERY HARD TO TELL A 3.73 FROM 3.90 OR A 3.90 FROM 4.10 THERE IS ONLY 20% AT MOST
BETWEEN EACH OF THOSE AND IF YOU ARE IN THE 3.58 AND 3.41 THERE ISN'T EVEN THAT.

I don't know how it could be any easier. If you put a mark on the flange, it is pretty easy. You MUST mark it and turn it slowly. 3 and a half turns, the mark would be straight down at 6 o'clock. If it's a little to the left (more towards 7 o'clock) then it's a 3.58. If it's a little to the right( closer to 5 o'clock) then it's a 3.41. The same would be true for the 3.9 and 4.10. I agree it would be a lot more difficult if we didn't already know what ratios are possible, but since we know what was available, this is the most reliable and also, I might add, the method used in tech at tracks with a gear rule. |

You guys are speaking of some of the very common .but Toyota has 38 gear sets if you go into their book. It is also listed on the Internet two or three
places.
