How big should the hole be in the rear end for a breather?
Thanks. Fred Schneider #4 rmdcra.org |

THE STOCK ONE HAS METRIC PIPE THREAD THAT IS VERY CLOSE TO THE U.S. EQUIVALENT OF 1/8 PIPE

1/8 pipe We use a grease gun hose. There cheap at the parts stores and flexable, screw it in to the stock hole at tiewrap the free end to the frame.

ACTUALLY I USE THE CHEAPEST HOSE THAT I CAN FIND IN ALIKE HOME DEPOT OR LOWES. I ATTACH IT TO THE REAREND AND RUN IT UP TO THE BOTTOM OF THE "PACKAGE
TRAY" AND THEN DOWN AGIAN TO JUST BELOW THE FRAME. THAT WAY IT WILL BREATH AND WHEN YOU WASH THE CAR NOTHING WILL GO IN THE REAREND. I ALSO USE THE SOME
METHOD ON THE EMOTOR BREATHER. IN THAT CASE IT ALLOWS THE MOTOR TO BREATH AND IF ANY OIL IS EXPELLED IT WILL RETURN TO THE MOTOR RATHER THAN BEING PUT ON THE
TRACK. IT'S LIKE RACERS USED TO DO ON THE OLD HARLEYS.

Just hooked one up on mine and very happy with the results. I got a 1/8 inch to AN4 fitting the screwed, although a bit tight, and an AN4 hose fitting, took
off the outside part of the fitting and put a 3/8 in hose and clamped it, made a single loop in hte hose and put on a cheap breather from Discount Auto. Zip
ties the hose to one of the supports in the rear of my Pro. Stopped all leakage at the bearings.

Jaybee,
Is the single loop you made in the hose to prevent water from going thru the breather and into the rear end? Thanks. Fred |

Just to keep the good stuff in and the bad stuff out!!! Just the way I usually run breather tubes so if any oil is being blown out, it will pool in the loop
and not be blow out and any water, dirt etc has less of a chance in getting in. We run a lot of different tracks here in Florida so we change gears and
rear-end oil every couple of weeks.
