Springs help |

I just bought a dwarf car and run it in Tn. on a 1/4 dirt track. It is a little loose coming out of the truns. It has 200# spring on the front and left rear is
a 150# and the right rear is a 175# I have a 140 spring and would that help if i put it on the right rear or make it worse?

Yes a softer rr spring would give you more bite for the corners.

Try swapping the RR and LR.You might want to also make sure it's not loose off because you're spinning your tires.

Thanks for you help... Do you mean put the 175 on LR and the 150 on RR or should i take the 175 off all togather and use the 140 on LR or RR

Put the 175 on the LR and the 150 on the RR. The heavier spring on the LR will tighten it up coming off the corner.

That helped out a lot. But if i put a 150 on LR and a140 on RR will that give the car more bite or make it to loose ?

It may be more than just the Springs....
The stiffer the spring on the RR, the looser you will be. The softer the spring on the RR, the tighter you will be. The same is true of the RF spring. To me, that spring set up on the rear is way to stiff. Try 190 (3030 Bilstein) to the LF, 180 (2040 Bilstein) to the RF, 120 (4020 Bilstein) to the LR, 130-140 (3010 Bilstein) to the RR. Left Caster at 2.5 Degrees Positive, Right Caster at 3.5 Degrees Positive. Toe Out 1/4 inch. Left Camber 1-2 degrees out, Right Camber 3 degrees in. Right Rear axel set back 1/8 inches compared to Left Rear Axel. RR Trailing Arm about 1/2 inch higher than the LR Trailing Arm. Set the Panhard Bar level with the axel. Scale the car with you in it to 50% CW with 51-52% LW, 56-58 % Rear. 25-30 #'s LR tire weight greater than RR to start with the LF and RF essentially even with 3 inches rear stagger and 1 inch front stagger. If Loose, tighten by adding rounds to the LR. If Tight, loosen by taking rounds out of LR. Leave the other corners alone. If on acceleration out of turns the rear wants to go right on you, raise the Panhard Bar (if it is mounted in front of axel and attaches to left side of frame). And if entering a turn the rear does not want to come around easily lower it. This may be more info than you needed or wanted, but this makes it very simple and gives you a car that will turn in with minimal effort and get out as easy as pie with minimal steering wheel work. It will be like on auto-pilot. |

Thanks for all the info and it a big help to me. But this is a old dwarf car and don't have all the adjustments in the rear of the car. It has the 4 bar
link on it too. We have a few car that still run it but most are the 3 bar link. It has pro shocks on it too. Most every thing talks about running tire stagger
but we all have to run street tire bf goodrich 205- 60 -13 all the way round the car. The soft spring set up will give better traction?

Yes, the softer spring set up to the right side of the car will make it tighter with more side bite. Stiffer shocks on the right will make you looser with
less side bite. However, I still think those rear spring rates are too stiff on the rear. For me, I like putting a 10-20 # split in the rear shocks with the
stiffer one to the RR than the LR. Why? Most of the force is going over there from the left side to the right side. So, in my opinion, you need the stiffer
one over there at about 130-140 to take the force...a 10-20 # split. Up on the RF, I like a softer spring than the one on the LF, but not by much...only 10
#'s. So, I'm saying to soften up the rear more than you are now.
Check those old shocks. They may be worn out and if you get some Bilsteins like I laid out, you will notice a big difference in your handling. Even though you have an old chassis, scaling it will be of great benefit to your handling as well. With the 4 link I would think you could set the RR back 1/8 inch compared to the LR. |

The shock on the front are new and the ones in back are good. We went and changed the back to the 150 on RR and the140 on LR. The wieth on the car now is LF
323 and RF 319 and the LR 379 and RR 336 The car is Heavy 1357 and hate to add any more wiegth Left side is 51.73 Rear 52.68 Cross is 51.43. the car only has
one small piece of wiegth on it and it in the left rea corner. I have done spent to much on the car lately and what would be the first thing to buy to help it.
because i have to do a little at a time. the front end is set up like you said too and the rear end is 1/8 back too.
