Considering the weight of your car, I can now understand why you have heavier springs. That makes sense. Here is what you could do to lighten that car:
1) If you are running a heavy motor that is outdated, get a lighter 1000 cc motor like a '05 ZX10 or '05 GSXR 1000 or newer. This will give you plenty
of HP and less weight and increase your rear %. You will lose up to 50 #'s possibly depending on what motor you have now. So, what motor do you have
now?
2) Go to lightweight Wilwood brakes on all 4 corners.
3) Go to lightweight rotors (scalloped) on all 4 corners
4) Go to lightweight spindles and hub assemblies (like the Peter D brand)
5) Remove the 5 gallon fuel cell and go to a 3 gallon RCI. Move it back as far as you can, but make sure you have tubular protection behind it.
6) If you want to keep the 5 gallon fuel cell only run it 2/3 full at the beginning of the race. I think one gallon of fuel equals 8 #s. But move it as far back as you can as long as you put some tubular protection behind it.
7) Get a lightweight Aluminum Honda Civic racing radiator off of Ebay....nice and cheap.
Lightweight rims on all 4 corners (like 15 pounds each). Either Circle Mighty Beads or Falcons. Aero makes a lighter model as well.
You are not in bad shape on your %'s, except for the rear %. Everyone has an opinion but I like at least 56-58%. The only way to get that is to move
weight off the front and toward the back. For example, mounting a radiator behind you as opposed to in front of the car. And lightening the motor takes
weights off the front and increases % to the back. If you lighten the car, then of course you can then lighten your springs.
