how do we cut the fuel usage on our zx1200? ran 38 laps and ran out of fuel. we had a 2001 in it and put a 2003 and ever since then its been hard on fuel, we
took the throttle bodies off of the 2001 and put them on the 2003 because the 01 had abuilt in regularter,still uses to much fuel. need help!!!!!

I think the only year zx12, that has a built in regulator is a 2000................ You would need a inline fuel regulator set around 43 to 45 psi, if its a
2001-2005. If your throttle bodies has two lines going to it you do not need a regulator. But if it has only one you will need a fuel regulator.

I have ran a 2000 and a 2003, either one of them would be really pushing it to get that many laps out of a 3 gal tank. Thats depending on the track size
anyway. How big is the track?
I think all of the throttle bodies are the same, it was a 2002 that had a built in regulator in the fuel pump. |

Ya, I talked to Ron Towels today. The 2000 throttle bodies have a built in regulator. If you run a 2001-2005 throttle bodies you will need to run the stock
bike fuel pump or if you run a in line pump you will need a in line regulator.

thanks for the info,the tracks a 3/8 mile and we do have a return line coming off the throttle bodys . maybe we need to go back to the other throttle bodys
and put a regulator ,or maybe its just a fuel hog! my dad runs a gsxr 1000 in his and at the end of the race he's used about half the fuel I did.

I USE ABOUT 3 GAL OF FUEL IN A NITE ON MY ZX12 RUNNING A 1/5 TRACK SO YOUR GAS CONSUMPTION DOESN'T SOUND INCORRECT TO ME. THERE IS NO WAY THAT I COULD RUN
30+ LAPS ON A TANK.

on my zx12r I can run all night on about 3.5 to 4 gallons. this counts hotlaps,heat, and the "A". this is on a smaller 3/8 highbanked track.
we went to a track that is a TIGHT 1/4 mile last year and I had the wrong gear in the car and was on the chip alot and I mean ALOT!!! lol. and I darn near ran out of gas. (5 gallons) so if you are on the chip or real close to it, maybe that is why you are using more fuel?? I hope I helped ya!!
