Can anyone lend some advice about removing the charging system from my 2003 zx1200 motor. Ive been told that this will give a 20 hp increase.

Hello Martinracing237,
this will NOT increase your HP by 20!!! maybe 2-3 hp tops. but if you decide to take it off then take the stator cover off (fire wall side of engine) take everything out of that cover. (stator and flywheel) you will need a flywheel puller and you maybe able to use one from your local shop.... the puller looks like a big bolt for the zx12. I bought one for like $10 bucks of so. I hope I helped
you get what you pay for!

thanks for the reply. I figure that there is probably no reason not to take it out.

It's my understanding that the cranks are balanced with the fly wheel stanter on them at the factory. Remove the charging system is a little on the
Dino found nothing by removing the flywheel but that was on the older air cooled motors have not ran new ones With that kind of experiment. Didn't figure
they have changed to spend the time doing it

Taking the charging system off of a fuel injected motor is risking having your engine quit in mid race.

If you gain "20 hp" taking it off, how much do you lose on a weak or dead battery? I split my battery open on debris one race and luckily my alt keep me running to finish the race.
