Apparently the gas prices and rising costs of everything else is not enough. These transponders cost about $100.00 and thank goodness the folks at I-77 got us a deal on them. In order for a guy to get his family in the pits and gas to drive there and whatever expense he has for running and now an additional $100 bucks,thats kind of crazy. Now I've been racing for years and the track officials everywhere have done a fine job at getting the cars lined up. What happens if you buy one of these and have tech.diffuculty and can't hear anything. What about the guys that may only race there a couple of times a year is this gonna keep them from coming back? I feel that they need to re-think their position on this. THE WORLDS TALLEST MIDGET

Posts: 81 (07/02/08 07:33 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	i think they are a good thing... they are used to alert drivers of cautions, wrecks, car problems, and of course lining cars up after a caution. this will speed the races up (less time lining cars up) and can help everyone have better communication. i'm sure they're not going keep someone from racing due to not having a race reciever. maybe you should come and race before complaining.... to quote yourself from an earlier post "quit your bitching and race!" i've actually been in the I-77 pits this year and haven't heard anyone that's upset about the reciever. several drivers already have them and i got mine in the mail last week.... so stop complaining and come out and add to the car count at I-77 david mccutcheon - 6m

Posts: 121 (07/02/08 08:58 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tinyman, I think you may be a bit confused, I77 has not mandated transponders which are used for keeping track of the cars location and position all the time..What they have asked everyone to purchase are raceivers. Raceivers are used for one way communication from the track officials to the driver...My opinion is that anything that can be used to increase safety and get everyone home at a descent hour I am in favor of...I have used it at different tracks and its great to know if there is a wreck in turn 4 when you are coming off turn 2...it also reduces the time in line ups if a driver continues to try to get in line where he shouldn't then the track official will tell him where he belongs. If then he doesn't move he will be told he will not be scored...As for the cost any one that has ever raced has spent a whole lot more for a whole lot less and I am reasonably sure they will have a few to rent for the occasional racer, but you cannot be an occasional racer every weekend.............And if you we not interested in technology you wouldn't be able to access this site and express your opinion... I too have been to I-77 not only this year but for many years. I had not heard that the track may rent these items to you. That makes good sense. I try to run several of the tracks and help them all out. Your right about quit your bitchin and race thats how I feel. I can race several other places and not have to pay the extra money for the recievers but thats my choice where I race.Again I just wanted other peoples OPINION on the matter and we now know what yours is. THANKS THE WORLDS TALLEST MIDGET

Posts: 56 (07/03/08 07:23 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	One-way radios (not necessarily Raceceivers, but that is what most of the guys here use) are required at all the tracks the ESDCA races at in Central NY...I also know that they are required at Merrittville in Canada. They greatly assist the flagmen in alerting the drivers of cautions, red flags, and other issues on the track - also getting everyone properly lined up after a caution, resolving position challenges, etc...all of which speeds up the race. Plus they eliminate the need to put the flagmen at risk by having to go out onto the track. Track rules are: if you don't have a one-way radio, you don't race. Personally, I think they are a good thing. And it's not like you have to buy a new one every year. They are a one-time investment (except for batteries). One thing to note - Raceceivers are a total drain on batteries. Go to BJ's or Sam's or whatever and buy a huge pack of AAA's. Put in a fresh battery EVERY night. -Christina
