We are having trouble getting our car to hook up. The biggest problem is the car fish tails all the way down the straight stretch. If you get on the gas coming
off corner it wants to spin to the in Field. If you ease on the gas it seams like the faster you go the more out of control the rear gets.
Anyone have this problem before? Thanks 1yracing. |

I had that condition once and it was my rear end gear....something broke and the rear wheels didn't turn together.....looked like I was drunk going down
the front straightaway.

like fred said, it sounds like the rear end gear, is it a toyota 8 or 10 bolt or a quick change rear end. If its a toyota it sounds like you might have a
welded rear end gear instead of a spooled rear end gear. Those welds do tend to give out every now and again which would give you the feeling youre describing.
If its not the rear end gear then you might look at your chassis squareness and wheelbase. if your wheelbase is out of whack it will feel really strange.

If it is the rear end gear, you need to just replace the spider gears with a steel full spool and then you will not have to worry about welds. You will also
lose about 5 lbs of rotating weight.

I'm not trying to be smart but you may want to jack up the car so one wheel is off the ground. Try to rotate the one that's in the air. If one spins
while the other doesn't, even a little bit, you'll have to pull the center section out and see why. You could have a broken axle or the welds could
have come loose on the spider gears as the others have suggested.
Also check to make sure you don't have a loose radius rod one side or the other. One other thing that will make them feel really uncontrolable is if you don't have enough caster in the front end. The center of the top ball joint needs to be behind the bottom. If your not sure how to check write me at howardzeroplus@wildblue.net and I'll help you through it. |

Thanks guys for your time and info.
It is a Toyota 10 bolt and I have had this trouble with the 373, 390 and the 430 gear. I had to weld the 373 before we put it in. I will pull gear out and check it before Saturday along with axels. Here is what my springs are RR 125 LR 137 RF 185 LF 200 Thanks 1yracing |

Hello,
Jack up the rear end of the car and make sure both wheels are spinning it could be a broken axle or a weld. |

What is your Cross weight(wedge)? We have experienced this same problem with a low cross(below 48%), it pins all your weight on the RR and once you pick up the
throttle you are constantly having to catch the car from spinning, even down the straights. If it is low, try getting it to 52%-54%. I could be wrong, but if
you have any questions about setup, send me an email at modrocket15@hotmail.com or send me a PM on here.
Hope I can help.

Ok, Finally made it home.
Jacked right side up and had very little play, about 1/4 movement in wheel each way. Karter25, Hello, We had the car on a set of scales sometime back, we have made all kind of changes to springs and everything else.Trying to make time to get back to the scales. P.S. Are you an ex-karter? I talked with a guy that builds dirt late models, he thinks we have to much front weight letting the rear break loose. Anyone got a base line set up on springs or anything else? Thanks to all 1yracing |

Yeah 1y, when we first signed up for the board in 2006 we race karts, just never changed my login name. We have been in modlites since August of 06. There was
a big learning curve for myself as the driver during the transition, but we started running pretty good by the middle of last year, and I really enjoy it.
As for the setup, if you get to a set of scales...send me the numbers. I'll see if I can tell you what is wrong. Also, what area are you from? We are in NE Ohio, and we will set your car up for a reasonable fee if you are in our area.

Thanks everyone for your help.
We made some major changes last night on set up, had way to much front weight. Toby from Outlaw Chassis came over and help us square the rear and adjust the lead and made changes to the pan bar. The car ran good in the feature race, my son said it didn't seam like the same car. Thanks 1yracing |
