I know that "most" clubs around the country use the Hoosier DOT dirt oval tire as the required spec tire. I'm not attempting to change the modlite/dwarfcar world, but merely trying to inform those with a humble ear.
This is only a suggestion, and nothing else....
Since most racers don't want to stray from the "national sanction" set of rules, I can understand sticking to the Hoosier Soft as a clubs spec tire. My "issue" over the matter is the cost of changing the worn RR. I know of one racer in our local group that has changed to a new RR tire 8 times this season. For many racers (including myself), 8 tires for the RR in a season is just too much. I'm not saying that we should outlaw new RR tires, but have the "option" to choose a RR that will last longer. Hoosier and American Racer both make 13 inch midget tires that cost about 10.00-15.00 more, yet will handle the abuse and last twice as long(if not longer). Many durometer midget tires are available including duro's of 40 and 50 durometer that can match the duro's of your clubs spec Hoosier. My suggestion.... keep the spec Hoosier on the 3 other corners, and allow the RR to be a midget tire of the same durometer.
