Are there any rules that anyone thinks should be introduced in TUSA and local clubs that would improve the safety of our sport ?
11. SAFETY EQUIPMENT
A. Fire bottle system HIGHLY recommended.
B. Driver uniform will consist of:
- Firesuit (single layer minimum, one or two piece)
- Fireproof gloves
- Leather or fireproof shoes
- Approved helmet with Snell 95 or higher
- Full face helmet highly recommended if using wire- mesh windscreen
- Neck collar
C. Car must be equipped with 5-point safety harness, no more than 3 years old, with minimum of 3 inch belts
D. Aluminum, high-backed racing seat mandatory
E. Window nets, arm restraints and head & neck restraints HIGHLY recommended
Lets face it. We all have items A-D. What about item E ? What about having the head rests on the sides of the seats ?
TUSA rules are pretty straight forward when it comes to safety, and lets face it. They really haven't changed much over the years. If our rules keep changing so that cars are faster and more competitive, don't you think that our safety rules should also be updated to accomodate for this ? I have seen a lot of posts on the message board this year for accidents. Ie. The White's. Why don't we take steps to minimize this for next year.
