nothin,,,,i think its fair enough to say that mod's were the start of the downward spiral for classics,i dont think this is a bad thing ,it lends itself to guys that want to spend reasonable money ultimatly race mods,the thing that is really going to hurt the class in my opinion is having little offshoot groups that want to restrict motors size and brand ,effectivly it turns little groups into new classes of the same car ,if not going fast enough to be competitive with factory cars in the mods why would you get rid of all the classics in youre area and start a slow mod class?promotors all want a good show a reasonably quick classic provides visual appeal,a quick mod gives better racing,the end deal is there has to be a selling point.often people are convinced that they are doing the right thing ,but is it the right thing for the class in general or for themselves,i think the current rule book is very fair and maybe the tyre rule could be looked at ,run a medium to pull the fast cars back a bit ,,period

Maybe because fans, drivers, and tracks are tired of seeing the same thing week-in, week-out for 20 years? Put a dwarf car next to a mod lite and see which one draws the attention. Youre putting Fred Flintstones car next to Enzo Ferraris as far as looks go. Whats under the hood, the fans could car less about. Ask the fans which they would prefer, close racing or fast racing.
Dont think big motors and soft tires are killing mod lites? Ask the guys building them what sales have been like. Medium tires arent the cure-all. The big motor guys can still get their power to the ground and leave the guys with less under the hood in the dust. Face it, when you get five guys of equal skill and equal cars, but 3 of them have money in their motors, the guys with the built motors are going to win. These arent midgets, you shouldnt have to outspend the guy next to you to get a win. |

Who is limited to an R1? Pretty soon you wont be finding anything except ZX14's and 1000cc motors. And after that it will be all 1000cc, insurance companies dont like the big bikes!

CLose race vs Fast race | ||
|
7 out of 10 fans are going to say they would rather watch a close race rather than a blowout. For fast races, go watch the nitros at the drag strip........

Enzo Ferrari??? | ||

I have to say this - not everyone thinks the ModLites look like Ferraris. No one in my area races them and for my personal taste - I think those cars look more like something my 5 year old would design than a Ferrari.
Why doesn't someone design a ModLite that actually looks like a Nascar? If that were the case I would love to change body styles but as it stands now my personal opinion is that the classics are much more aesthetically appealing than the cobbled up looking ModLites that are out there now. Sure that my opinion won't carry much weight with the ML crowd but had to put a counter point out there... and yes I know I am a punk because I signed in anonymously so you don't need to post that typical response. |

CLASSICS AND MODS | ||
|
Open the rules up for the older classics. Don't try to slow down the mods. Several things could be changed for a classic to be more compettive: weight, wings, spoilers, tires, motors, width........
I ran with the ADCRA this last year and I can't tell you how many pictures were taken of my car before the race and after the race by the fans. The classics just need a little more speed. This was my first year to race so I need to learn my car, set up and how to drive better but they do need some rules changed. Jeff |

when you say look more like nascar, do you mean nascar's modified series? which they do look similar. nascar's dirt series, or do you mean a cup car? just curious which direction you want us to go.
