Never mind the wet track, what about the darkness of the track? Look like you need some headlights. If you complain about that track, you definitly don't
want to come out to AZ to race. We beg for a heavy track like that! HP guys will stomp the little stockers.

This was a dash, and you lapped that many cars??? WOW!! This must have been friday cause the track sure looks like it has a few ruts.

Fred, look here. Nothing over the lens. So small they said mud hardly ever gets on it. I put it on the left side to lower the odds of just that. I think right
side would be a better video, but wanted to play it save.

I was running about 1/2 throttle so it would not have been hard. As rough as the track was that night I saw no need to run wide open. Already was in the
Feature and they were going to invert anyway.

Truth....and was testing the bottom for the Feature. Trying to find a way to run down there while everyone else was up higher. The night of the Feature I went
out on the surface during Trick or Treat and walked around down there. They kept asking me was I going to run down there and I said yes. I had to do something
to cut off distance on the track and make up for the hp. I tested one set up in the first hot lap session that night. Would not hold. In the second hot lap
session, went to my favorite and it held and hooked. Just did not need to break, but did in the Feature. I knew something was gonna break before the start of
the race, just did not know what or when. Just glad it was on a restart and that the person behind me was alert and quick to steer clear. If I had broke while
running it would have been flip time.
I had thought the noise was the drive shaft yoke hitting the JBar bc I was running it low on the pinion. So, I raised it one hole and tightened the drive shaft bolts at the QC. Also checked the Hawk. Went out for the brief Hot Laps before the Feature. Still heard it. Car was squirrly bc I did not want to raise the Panhard Bar on the frame side unless the noise went away. It was still there, so I lowered the Panhard Bar back to where it was on the pinion. When we were making line up laps I still heard it. And then it became obvious when the king pin came out of the lower ball joint. I must have not tightened it all the way down when I was checking casters/cambers before I left AR or the rough first night helped it loosen off. But anyway, learned a new one. I guess I will start running the king pin the other way with the head of it down and the nut on top. That way I can see it and make sure. Mike Kennedy suggested that and that may be good advice for others who are not running it this way. He also uses a beveled 5/8 " lug nut with the bevel down against the heim on top to secure the kingpin. I think this is a great idea and thought I would pass this info on for those who are not doing it this way. I certainly will from now on.... I-30 was way rougher the week before than the first night at GCS...by a long shot. I did not want to take that type of beating twice. They did a great job getting GCS smooth the second night. Surface was really nice.

That's a great idea Doc. I also take and put a drop or two of blue loctite on each of the bolts on my car. I use to have this problem of things just coming
loose, but since started doing the loctite deal have not had even 1 come loose in the past 2 years.

Drill a hole in the bottom of the king pin as well as the bolt holding the steering tie rod onto the spindle and run safewire through both bolts. This guarantees that that the bolts wont come off as long as the wires are there, Takes a little longer to take on and off, but worth the safety of knowing that nut wont go through the wire.... many big cars around here use this trick..

Think I am gonna do the safety pin and the nut on top trick with lock tight on both spindle nuts from now on....just never happened before. But I think I may
have not tightened that one all the way after checking it all before leaving AR. Had a lot I had to do before I left and may have just forgot that I had not
tightened it down all the way. Or I got sidetracked in the middle of it checking the set up. I tried to go through it all since I-30 was so
uncharacteristically rough anyway. I think my backbone was loose from that night. See you all at the KC short track race. I am just glad they are including
us again.

another thing to check on the king pins is.................IF your using ny-locks like we are supposed to be using then they need to be changed out EVERY time
you take them off or loosen them for any reason..99% of the time they are only good for ONE time

I use the nuts that come with the Peter D spindles. They are shaped different where they meet the heim. I really think I forgot to tighten it down. I think I
put the nut on, let the car down, rechecked camber, it was okay, went to adjusting toe out, and just never tightened the nut all the way. They have never
loosened off before. I think it was just a case of "I forgot".
